March 14th Florida Unity Day

Edgewood High School and Middle School students showed their sympathy and support to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas students on March 14 by participating in a Florida Unity Day. Those students and staff members who were killed on February 14 were remembered by our students by observing a moment of silence and wearing their school colors. Cards and a banner were provided to allow anyone the opportunity to express their sympathy and words of comfort.

Enhancing Blackboard Communications from Edgewood

Edgewood uses the Blackboard system as our primary communication tool for notifying our parents, students and staff about upcoming events, activities, student attendance, as well as crisis communications. These communications are issued as emails, text messages and/or phone calls, based on an individual's preference. As part of our safety and security strategy, we use the Blackboard system, in addition to our website (www.edgewoodschools.com) and our district's Facebook page (facebook.com/EdgewoodCitySchools), to issue crisis communication.

FFA and EES 5th Graders were Inspiring Minds Together!

What a great & memorable learning experience our FFA provided to our EES students! Three hands-on workshops were created for our 5th graders in preparation for their upcoming Science AIR Tests. Students rotated every 10 minutes to hear 3 different "lessons" on agriculture. The content as well as the activities were created by our FFA students. They met in advance with Mr. Kyle Sigmon, 5th Grade Science teacher at EES, to ensure the content aligned to the material students would be tested on during their upcoming Science AIR test. What an impactful way to help students retain information! And, it gave our FFA students first-hand experience in developing a lesson plan along with delivering it to students. It was an amazing way to inspire learning as well as inspiring future educators!
