Hard Work & Dedication Pays Off in our Virtual Academy

Two teams of students, from our Virtual Academy, were named the Morning Session and Afternoon Session's Kings & Queens of Spring. Students were given points based on participation and completion of classes, daily attendance, and completion of all coursework necessary for graduation. The students' individual points counted toward their team's final tally towards their day out at The WEB in Liberty Township. What a great way to celebrate weeks and weeks of hard work. Congratulations to our Kings & Queens of Spring and a huge shout out to The WEB for hosting our students!

Holocaust Remembrance Day

Freshman students in Mrs. McClelland's class honored the Holocaust victims on Thursday, May 2 for Holocaust Remembrance Day. Students created a butterfly to represent and honor those that were affected by the Holocaust. Each student chose an identification card from individuals who were a part of the Holocaust, read their stories, and created butterflies to honor them. They also got to experience what it is like to stand in the dimensions of the cattle cars used for deportations during the Holocaust. It was a very somber, yet memorable experience for our students.

Senior Service Day

Over 120 seniors participated in the first annual Edgewood High School Senior Service Day on April 29. The purpose of this event directly ties to Edgewood’s Strategic Plan.  The goal of the Senior Service Day is to engage stakeholders to take action that will promote Edgewood City Schools to parents and the community while connecting with current students, attracting future ones, and successfully engaging staff members. Mr. Geygan was inspired to create a community service experience in which all high school seniors could participate. His vision is to hold this event every spring and possibly include the entire high school student population in years to come. “This experience could not have been possible without the support of our high school staff and student-leaders.  These individuals believe in the importance of making a difference through servant-hood and compassion for our community and our district. I’m so proud to see how excited our seniors were to be a part of this event. The results of their hard work, energy, and effort was truly inspiring,” said Geygan.
