Christian Peerzada Named Commended Student for National Merit Scholarship Program

Christian Peerzada has been named a Commended Student in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from the school and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, has been presented by Principal Doug Geygan to this scholastically talented senior.

About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2019 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2019 competition by taking the 2017 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®).

“The young men and women being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” commented a spokesperson for NMSC. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”

FFA Honor Flight 5K Run & Pancake Breakfast Fundraisers

It was a chilly Saturday morning on November 10 as our FFA Chapter participated in the Honor Flight 5K Run & Walk at Fraze Pavilion. This is one of many fundraising events scheduled to support Honor Flight Dayton this year. Members volunteered to support the charity event by either handing out water and snacks to the runners while other participated in the 5K event. On Sunday, November 11, the FFA hosted a community-wide pancake breakfast to thank veterans and active military for their service. The event also raised money for Honor Flight Dayton. Many thanks to all the sponsors of this event, especially to our awesome EHS Cafeteria staff who prepared and served breakfast to everyone. It was a great way to start the day and to raise money for area veterans to travel to Washington D.C. to see the war memorials.
