Seniors Recognized for Enlisting in the Military

Eleven Edgewood High School seniors have committed to serving in the armed forces after graduation in May. They were honored at the Military Recognition Ceremony hosted by Butler County Educational Service Center and Butler Tech on April 29 at the Savannah Center in West Chester. Nearly 100 seniors from high schools throughout Butler County participated in this ceremony. The keynote speaker at the ceremony was Major General Allan Day from Wright Patterson Air Force Base. As each student was recognized, General Day presented them with a Challenge Coin to commemorate the ceremony and their commitment to serve and protect our country. Watch the EHS Baseball Game Against Harrison (from the GABP on April 27) On Demand

ICRC (Intercommunity Cable Regulatory Commission) covered the Edgewood vs. Harrison Varsity Baseball game on Saturday, April 27 at the Great American Ballpark. If you didn't get a chance to attend the game or would like to see it again, the game can be watched ON DEMAND (see more information below). You can also refer to the attached flyer for all the replay times/dates/channels on cable. The flyer also contains information on how to order copies of the game as well. It was a great game and we appreciate ICRC for making it possible for all our Cougars and their families to see it again!

Edgewood Represented in the North South Classic All-Star Football Game

The Ohio high school football 74th annual North South Classic All-Star football game was held on Saturday, April 27 in Massillon, Ohio at Washington High School’s Paul Brown Tiger Stadium. The North South Classic is contested between the top senior football players in the state as selected by the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association. Joining the South team from Edgewood was Evan Brown at DE, Wade Phillips at RB, and Coach Scott Clemmons. Edgewood participated with other athletes and coaches from high school football divisions: I, II, and III. Congratulations to the South team who won the game: South 35 vs. North 33.

FFA Banquet

Our Edgewood/Butler Tech FFA hosted their annual banquet on Saturday, April 27. Over 250 individuals were in attendance to show their support to the 92 FFA students and Mrs. Kellie Beiser, our FFA Advisor. Those students who presented during the event did a remarkable job! Congratulations to the students listed below who received FFA scholarships. Also, a special recognition to the students who received Star Awards. Likewise, everyone who was recognized for other notable accomplishments and honors, deserve special kudos for their efforts. EHS American Sign Language Club

The Hearing Speech and Deaf Center of Greater Cincinnati sponsored Deaf Day at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens today. A group of our EHS American Sign Language students went on a field trip to experience Deaf Culture first hand. Most of the animal experience talks given by the zoo staff were interpreted by ASL interpreters. There were several opportunities to interact with members of the deaf community as well as see how professional interpreters do their job. Our students along with Mrs. Jackie Miller-Wilke had an amazing time.

Daylight Prom

Students from Mrs. Dainton & Mr. Wells class attended the 4th annual Daylight Prom, hosted by Little Miami Local Schools Student Government, on Friday, April 26. The event took place at the Savannah Center in West Chester. Over 500 students, from Butler County and Warren County schools, attended this sensory-friendly event for peers who have special needs. Thanks to volunteers, Melissa & Cheryl, for doing our girls hair & make-up! Everyone was so excited for this special event and they all looked fantastic! Special thanks to the Little Miami Local Schools Student Government for making this magical event possible!

This award is given to one student, within each grade, who shows: academic growth and improved in & out of the classroom. Our EHS Student of the Month winners are: Chase Schwitalski (9th Grade), Karlee Treadway (10th Grade), Jaelynn Spears (11th Grade), and Katie Cupp (12th Grade). This award is given to the student who is academically successful, helps others, involved in activities or sports in/ outside of school, has an excellent work ethic, and demonstrates many of our Cougar Character Traits: Kind, Accepting, Honest, Determined, and Brave. These students were selected by EHS staff for going above & beyond our expected Character Traits behaviors, both in class and outside the classroom. Congrats to these Cougars!

North South Classic All-Star Football Game Scheduled for April 27

The Ohio high school football 74th annual North South Classic all-star game will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 in Massillon, Ohio at Washington High School’s Paul Brown Tiger Stadium. The North South Classic is contested between the top senior football players in the state as selected by the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association. Joining the South team from Edgewood is Evan Brown at DE, Wade Phillips at RB, and Coach Scott Clemmons. Two games will be played. The first at 12:00 p.m., featuring senior athletes from high school football divisions IV, V, VI, and VII. Edgewood will participate in the second game at 4:00 p.m.. It will features senior athletes from high school football divisions I, II, and III.
